Associated Couriers, Inc. Celebrates 40 Years of Nationwide Logistics
ST. LOUIS – May 15, 2017 – Associated Couriers, Inc., celebrates its 40th anniversary as a family owned, St. Louis-based freight, transportation, and logistics trailblazer. The company has evolved from a family-owned radiopharmaceutical courier to a multi-million-dollar logistics provider with locations throughout the United States.
Founded in 1977 by the Anderson family, ACI has grown to be a $13 million company, with a projected $1 - $2 million in financial growth this fiscal year alone. This financial growth has aligned with expansion to new markets in the West, as well as the advancement of existing warehouses in the Midwest.
During the last year, ACI’s Dallas location added additional warehouse space. Along with the Dallas growth, the St. Louis warehouse was expanded 2,500 sq. ft. in 2017, making room for an additional 18 team members. This growth is slated to continue in 2017 and 2018, with the development of warehouses in Detroit, MI and Chicago, IL.
Headquartered in St. Louis since its inception, ACI has created and maintained many local partnerships and provided world class logistics services to many St. Louis businesses, including: Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, Metabolic Meals, and institutions like Washington University and Lindenwood University.
“As a business that was founded in St. Louis, it is important to us to partner with other local companies. These types of home-grown relationships are what allowed ACI to expand into the nationally known company that it is today,” said Matt Silverberg, Director of Operations.
The St. Louis office employs 12 administrative team members and more than 30 drivers, including 4 members of the Anderson family.
“The direct involvement of the Anderson family has allowed ACI to maintain its identity as a company that cares about people. They’re committed to ensuring that all of the employees are valued and treated well, which is something that tends to fall through the cracks with corporate enterprises,” said Silverberg.
The presence of the Andersons has allowed ACI to grow into a national, multimillion-dollar company while continuing to operate as a local business within each individual market. Associated Couriers, Inc. is also an active within the community as an annual supporter of Harvester Christian Church’s Wrap A Bottom campaign and the Ranken Jordan golf tournament hosted by Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital.
While ACI’s employees are focused on bettering the community, ACI invests time taking care of their employees’ safety and well-being. This begins with a thorough training course for new hires, including HAZMAT certification. Throughout each employee’s tenure with ACI, training is continually reviewed to ensure that top safety standards are maintained. As an additional incentive, drivers are offered quarterly bonuses for safe driving based on a performance evaluation, lack of accidents, and compliance with traffic laws.
In addition to caring about the safety and well-being of their employees, ACI is also focused on creating a team-oriented work environment which includes friendly office cook-off competitions, dress up days to honor St. Louis sports teams, and publishing a quarterly newsletter to celebrate employee milestones and accomplishments.
With 40 years of logistics experience, ACI leads the industry in freight transportation and Third Party Logistics services in the United States. Serving companies of any size, ACI offers exceptional delivery services for all industries. The ACI Courier Solutions, Trucking Solutions, and A&M Logistics divisions specialize in medical, pharmaceutical, and standard delivery for both the private and public sectors.
